Characteristic of Functional Masterbatches

Feb 14, 2022

Functional masterbatches can be divided into flame retardant masterbatches, antistatic masterbatches, antibacterial masterbatches, smooth masterbatches, open masterbatches, glossy masterbatches, matting masterbatches, degradable masterbatches, foaming masterbatches, fresh-keeping masterbatches, Reinforced masterbatch, toughened masterbatch, etc.

There are many types of masterbatches, each of which has a corresponding effect. Functional masterbatches refer to the concentrates of various plastic additives. Direct addition of additives is not easy to disperse, and the use efficiency is not high, because the form of masterbatch is commonly used.

The characteristics of functional masterbatch are: particle size: granular solid composed of particle size of 0.1~3mm is powdery solid. 0.1mm (100μm) is powder composed of particles; 1~10μm is fine powder; 0.1~1μm is ultrafine powder;  >3mm particles are broken solid blocks. The smaller the particle size, the denser the resulting mixture.

Degradable masterbatch is a new type of biodegradation agent, the main components are polylactic acid, polybutylene terephthalate adipate and monosaccharide and other organic materials. When the products produced by adding biodegradable materials are discarded in landfills, in the microbially active environment, various microorganisms can be attracted to erode the digested polymer products. The degradation time depends on the amount added, the size of the product and the thickness of the product. Environmental factors, usually 3-5 years in the landfill environment can be completely biodegraded by microorganisms.
