Nov 09, 2022

After understanding the definitions of the two, we can learn how to distinguish them.

1. With double j logo: the main component marked below is not PE, but PBAT, PLA, ST (starch), MD (minerals such as CaCO3), etc., and the color is mostly white, translucent or light yellow; but the market There will also be companies with random double-j marks on the Internet, which is a matter of market supervision.

2. Observe the appearance: the raw materials of fully degradable plastic bags are PLA, PBAT, starch or mineral powder materials, and there will be special signs on the outer bag, such as the common "PBAT+PLA+MD", while for pseudo-degradable plastic bags, the raw materials It is PE and other materials, and the common ones include "PE-HD" and so on.

3. Touch by hand: Due to the different raw materials, the hand feel of the two is also very different. Different from degradable plastic bags that feel plastic, fully degradable plastic bags feel silky and soft to the touch.

4. Smell its smell: Pseudo-degradable plastic bags are usually odorless or plastic, while fully-degradable plastic bags, especially starch-based bags, will have a slight grain fragrance, and the material itself will also have some corn, cassava and other fragrances.

5. Burning test: Black smoke will be produced in the traditional burning of plastic bags, and there will be a pungent smell, and finally burned particles will be left. The fully degradable plastic bag has no smoke and no pungent odor during the incineration, and only organic powder remains after burning, which can be decomposed and absorbed.

6. Price difference: Due to the limitation of material capacity and cost, the current price of bio-plastic bags with good quality in large supermarkets is basically 0.5-1 yuan per piece, which is higher than traditional plastic bags of only about 0.2 yuan. Not a lot.
