Low carbon+weight reduction, ASUS/realme/Casio and other major brands use bio-based plastics
Recently, ASUS, a big pen and TV manufacturer, launched an ultra-light wireless game mouse-ROG Longscale ACE X AimLab cooperative version of wireless game mouse, weighing only 54g, which is the first ASUS wireless game mouse made by bio-based Rilsan ® ROG game mouse made of PA11 resin.

It is reported that 100% bio-based Rilsan ® PA11 resin is derived from castor seed, with low density, high mechanical strength, excellent toughness and impact resistance, and brings a unique high value-added material solution.
This is not the first application of Akoma bio-based materials in consumer electronics. As early as 2018, when Apple launched iPhone XS, its glass support frame was made of Akoma's bio-based polyamide PA.

According to the research data of IMarket Research Future, the global market size of bioplastics will reach $6.48 billion by 2027 at a compound annual growth rate of 10%.
Among them, consumer electronics is one of the important application fields of bio-based plastics.
This is because the average service life of consumer electronic products and their components is relatively short, which will generate a large amount of electronic waste and lead to sustainable development problems.
Bio-based plastic is a kind of polymer material that is made from recycled biomass, such as waste paper or pulp, sawdust, used edible oil and corn oil residue, through biotransformation to obtain biopolymer materials or monomers, and then polymerized. Therefore, the use of bio-based plastics can help reduce carbon and emissions of consumer electronics.
Bio-based material realme smart phone battery cover
SABIC's first bio-based polycarbonate (PC) copolymer LNPTMELCRINTMEXL7414B has been applied to the GT2Pro battery cover of realme's new smart phone.

It is reported that the bio-based composition from waste in this bio-based material is as high as 50% (calculated according to the mass balance method). Compared with the original stone-based material, each kilogram of new bio-based resin can reduce the carbon dioxide emissions by 2 kilograms.
The material has low temperature toughness (- 40 ℃), impact resistance and good chemical resistance. Its excellent processing performance can realize the design of ultra-thin parts, which is expected to effectively shorten the production cycle, achieve higher output, and bring rich color presentation.
The material also uses non-brominated and non-chlorinated flame retardant formulations, and built-in safety measures strictly control the fire prevention and safety performance, meeting the fire prevention and safety requirements of 5G and even 6G components.
Casio's first biomass plastic outdoor watch
Casio Computer Co., Ltd. recently announced the latest products in its PRO TREK outdoor watch series.

The newly launched PRW-61 is Casio's first bio-plastic watch that uses renewable organic substances.
It is reported that PRW-61 is Casio's first watch that uses biomass plastic in the case, strap and back cover. This environment-friendly biomass plastic is produced from castor seeds, corn and other raw materials. Casio said that he could apply this new material to the outdoor tool series PRO TREK for nature lovers.
This outdoor watch is available in three colors: khaki strap with black dial ring, black strap with silver dial ring and full black.
