Requirements & difficulties in the dyeing and finishing of polylactic acid fibers

Key Points

The pre-dyeing, dyeing, and finishing of knitted/woven, interwoven/blended fabrics should follow the principles of low temperature, low alkali, and short process. The trend of energy saving and emission reduction.

It can also be seen from the dyeing and finishing process that the concept of environmental protection of polylactic acid not only refers to the material itself, but also has obvious advantages over polyester in the subsequent processing and production process. The fiber itself has good whiteness, and a satisfactory whiteness can be obtained without adding fluorescent whitening agent. ·

Difficulty

At present, printing products are still difficult, and further research is required;

It should be noted that although the dyeing performance of PLA is similar to that of polyester, it is different from the polyester dyeing process currently used by dye houses. Polylactic acid is easily hydrolyzed at high temperature, and will be discarded when setting at high temperature. Special polylactic acid dyes are not yet mature. lead to increased risk of staining.

The yarn-dyed yarn-dyed products and medium-light-colored products can be given priority. The participation of the dyeing and finishing industry is also important.
