The difference between PLA straws and paper straws
With the official implementation of the plastic ban in 2021, the traditional plastic straws commonly used in the market have been gradually replaced by PLA degradable straws and paper straws. So what are the advantages of each and what is the difference between the two?
*PLA straws

PLA material - emulsified from corn or starch, it is a natural raw material, degradable material, and environmentally friendly. The temperature tolerance is -10°C to 80°C, which is close to plastic straws, and has the same physical properties as traditional plastic straws. The difference is that PLA straws are not transparent and have a frosted feel. At the same time, after being used and discarded, it can be decomposed into water and carbon dioxide under composting conditions for 45 days, which will not cause ecological pollution, and is a very good environmental protection straw.
Of course, the biggest disadvantage of PLA straws is the high cost. Compared with plastic straws, the cost can be four or five times higher, which is undoubtedly a great burden for enterprises and businesses.
*Paper straws

Paper material - safe and harmless, very environmentally friendly, it can better save resources, and it is more convenient to degrade in the natural environment. But at present, when using paper straws to drink hot beverages, there is a phenomenon that it is easy to melt. As an environmentally friendly material, the most important factor is that paper products can be recycled and reused. In addition, in terms of price, paper straws are much cheaper than PLA straws.
Currently on the market, both PLA straws and paper straws are both green and environmentally friendly.
