In January 2023, the World Packaging Organization announced the 2022 World Star Packaging Awards. In 2022, a total of 488 packaging schemes from 41 countries and regions participated in the selection, and 228 schemes won the prize. The Biodegradable Materials Research Institute will showcase some cases one by one for the packaging industry to reference and understand the world's cutting-edge packaging trends.
Award winning works: Waitoa brand free-range chicken from Ingham Company, and CRYOVAC brand food barrier bag with 80% recycled materials from Xiyue Company
Affiliated enterprises: New Zealand Hyatt Sealedair Company, New Zealand Ingham Company
Package type: food
Product Description:
Ingham's Waitoa brand series of free-range chicken products use the CRYOVAC packaging from Sieuer, which has increased the product's shelf life by 40%. This is due to the conversion to 80% recycled food barrier bags from the CRYOVAC (a brand owned by Sieuer) brand, equivalent to an 80% reduction in the use of raw materials, and also benefits from Ingham's processing technology optimization.
These recycled materials come from post consumer and post industrial sources. More importantly, the packaging can be recycled through plans for soft plastic and RedCycle stores in New Zealand and Australia.
