On September 13, 2021, LG Chem signed a framework agreement (HOA) for the establishment of a bioplastics PLA joint venture with Archer Daniels Midland, one of the world's four largest grain merchants.
Aiming at signing a formal contract in the first quarter of next year, the two companies plan to build a PLA plant with an annual capacity of 75000 tons in the United States by 2025, and build a la plant (lactic acid plant) for this purpose.
