Pulp Molded Packaging Of Commemorative Coins

Pulp molded packaging of commemorative coins

This packaging is made from a renewable, recyclable material - molded plant fiber - a mixture of bamboo and bagasse (sugarcane waste). This is a lightweight solution that reduces packaging weight by 67% (from 148 grams to 49 grams). This is the first time that molded fibers have been used to create high-end, high-quality, collectible coin packaging for the industry.

This packaging replaces boxes previously made of complex mixtures of non recyclable energy intensive materials, including a variety of plastics, metals, paper and cardboard, synthetic textiles, and adhesives.

By using molded plant fibers, we are able to provide the Royal Australian Mint with high-quality packaging solutions that meet all their high-end coin collection standards, while also being sustainable and recyclable.

The Royal Australian Mint plans to use this molded fiber packaging solution for the continuous issuance of coins until 2025, when its performance meets all packaging standards.
