TotalEnergies Corbion Uses PLA Bulk Bags to Package PLA Granules
On October 28, 2025, bioplastics company TotalEnergies Corbion announced the launch of redesigned Luminy® PLA product packaging bags, further promoting the circular economy. These new bags contain 30% industrial recycled materials in their outer layer.
This initiative reflects the company's commitment to sustainability, not only in its sugarcane-based PLA products but also in its operations and packaging.
"Sustainability isn't just about the quality of the product itself, but also about how we distribute it," said Monda van Eijl, Senior Product Manager at TotalEnergies Corbion. "By using recycled materials in our packaging, we not only reduce waste and conserve resources but also lower our overall carbon footprint."
Now, each new Luminy® PLA bulk bag contains 30% PIR material in its outer layer; these materials were originally high-quality manufacturing waste that would have been wasted if discarded. In this way, the waste is reused.
