The characteristics of polylactic acid fiber

PLA fiber has good biodegradability and can be completely decomposed into CO2 and H2O in nature after being discarded. Through photosynthesis, the two can become the raw material of lactic acid - starch. If PLA fiber is buried with other organic waste, it will decompose within a few months and can be completely decomposed into CO2 and H2O.

2. Lightweight, natural mild touch and silky luster

The density of PLA is 1.27g/cm3, which is a lightweight fiber, and it dries quickly even when wetted with water, without feeling sticky and heavy. The Young's modulus of PLA is between polyester and nylon, so it feels harder than nylon and softer than polyester. The refractive index of PLA is low, and it has a silky and elegant luster.

3. Moisture absorption, quick drying and warmth retention

PLA fiber can play different functions according to different seasons. In winter, the thermal insulation is more than 20% higher than that of cotton and polyester fibers. In summer, it has excellent moisture permeability and water diffusion. It absorbs sweat and dries quickly, and can quickly take away body heat through evaporation.

4. Natural flame retardant, antibacterial and weak acidity that reassures the skin

Natural flame retardant, bacteriostasis and weak acidity that reassures the skin Due to the characteristics of polylactic acid, the fiber itself forms a natural and stable antibacterial environment on its surface without processing. The pH value of the PLA fiber surface is between 6 and 6.5, which is weakly acidic, and healthy skin is also weakly acidic, so it has good compatibility with the skin.

5. Excellent bulk, resilience and UV resistance

PLA fibers and their fabrics do not absorb ultraviolet rays, and their strength and elongation are not greatly affected by long-term ultraviolet radiation.

6. Hygroscopicity and anti-pilling

PLA fiber fabric has good hygroscopicity and anti-pilling property

The weaving properties of PLA fiber, such as strength and elongation at break, are close to those of polyester and nylon, which is beneficial to textile and product post-processing; the dyeing performance is better than that of polyester, and it can be dyed at normal pressure, with good color fastness and bright color; good resilience, Excellent wrinkle resistance, small light reflection coefficient, soft luster. The glass transition temperature of PLA is lower than that of polyester, and the Young's modulus is half of that of polyester, indicating that PLA fiber products are soft and feel good.

Biodegradability is better than synthetic fibers and cellulose fibers, and it is a promising new green environmental protection fiber.
