On December 17, Acme Mills Company, a global leader in textile innovation, proudly launched its breakthrough bio-based polylactic acid (PLA) fabric series Natura. Designed to replace petroleum-based nonwovens such as PET, PP and nylon, Natura represents a revolutionary step in reducing environmental impact without compromising performance or quality.
The Natura product line includes a variety of PLA fabric types such as spunbond nonwovens, needle felt, spunlace nonwovens and meltblown nonwovens. These innovative materials can be tailored to meet the needs of industries such as food and beverage, packaging, automotive, furniture, healthcare and filtration.

Sustainability is a core principle
Natura fabrics are made from renewable resources such as corn starch and sugar cane and are biodegradable under industrial composting conditions. Natura fabrics significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions and fossil-based raw material consumption compared to traditional plastics.
Using PLA is said to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 75% compared to petroleum-based plastics.
