Action Plan for Plastic Pollution Control in Guangdong: Promote the Orderly Development of the Biodegradable Plastics Industry
The Guangdong Provincial Development and Reform Commission and the Guangdong Provincial Department of Ecology and Environment recently issued the "Guangdong Province Plastic Pollution Control Action Plan (2022-2025)" (hereinafter referred to as the plan). The plan proposes five key actions, including the reduction of plastic production and use at the source, the promotion and use of plastic substitute products, and the national action for plastic pollution control.
By 2025, the unreasonable use of single-use plastic products in key areas such as commodity retail, e-commerce, postal express, catering takeaway, exhibition activities, hotels and other key areas will be greatly reduced, and e-commerce express mail will basically achieve no secondary packaging. The recycling and disposal capacity has continued to improve. The province has basically built a system for sorting, collecting, transporting and disposing of domestic waste in cities and counties above the prefecture level. The efficiency of collection and transfer of plastic waste has been greatly improved; the province’s total domestic waste incineration capacity It reaches about 130,000 tons per day, the incineration capacity accounts for more than 80%, and the direct landfill of plastic waste is greatly reduced.
