Bio-based plasticizer from Tokyo DIC Corporation is certified by USDA
Tokyo, Japan – DIC Corporation announced today that its 100% biomass-based polyester plasticizer, GLOBIEXⓇ W-1810-BIO, was certified as a bio-based product in June 2022 by the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Bio First Program.
The BioPreferred program is a USDA initiative to help expand the market for biomass products. Certification under this program allows the use of the USDA Certified Biobased product label, which is limited to products that have been tested and determined to have biomass content at or above a certain level by a USDA certifying agency.
Plasticizers are additives that impart flexibility and other key properties to thermoplastic resins, particularly polyvinyl chloride (PVC), whose main applications range from everyday items to industrial products, including automotive interior materials, sheathing materials for electrical cables in household appliances, Textile inks in apparel and food contact materials.
Made entirely from plant-derived raw materials, GLOBIEXⓇ W-1810-BIO meets all the essential performance requirements of polyester plasticizers, including oil resistance and low migration, meaning it can easily replace traditional petroleum-based poly Ester plasticizer. Replacing petroleum-based options with GOBINEXⓇ W-1810-BIO will help reduce CO2 emissions from the finished product, thereby increasing safety and a sense of security. In addition to the USDA certified bio-based product certification, this product has also received the "Biomass 100%" Biomass Mark under the Japan Organic Recycling Association (JORA) Biomass Mark Labeling System.
