Danone faces legal action over plastic use
Several environmental groups have taken legal action against French bottled water and dairy group Danone's plastic use in recent days, accusing the company of failing to adequately account for all the plastic it uses in its production cycle.
Danone is the world's largest yogurt manufacturer, and also produces infant formula milk powder and mineral water. It owns many well-known brands such as Aptamil milk powder and Evian mineral water.
According to Danone's 2021 financial report, Danone uses more than 750,000 metric tons of plastic a year, about 74 times the weight of the Eiffel Tower, for water bottles, yogurt containers and other packaging.
