Floreon is a bioplastic technology company headquartered in Hull, UK. Recently, the company's Therma-Tech PLA material won the 2024 Bioplastics Innovation Award from the American Plastics Industry Association (Plastics).

Floreon's Therma-Tech PLA is a plant-based halogen-free flame-retardant polymer with a groundbreaking UL94 V-0 flame retardant rating. It contains more than 75% renewable ingredients and represents a major advancement in the field of bioplastics, providing industry with durable bio-based materials and expanding the range of bioplastics to replace ABS in injection molding, extrusion and 3D printing. In addition, compared with traditional PLA, Floreon's PLA material has tougher mechanical properties and a carbon footprint that is 7 times lower than traditional plastics such as ABS, PC or HIPS.

Floreon's success comes from research and development in collaboration with the University of Sheffield. In addition to Therma-Tech, the company also launched Floreon Dura-Tech (suitable for injection molding, in the manufacture of toys, reusable beverage cups, tableware) and Floreon Bio-Tech (high impact resistance, suitable for injection molding applications such as cosmetics and food). These bioplastics have higher durability and are suitable for a variety of industries, from medical devices and toys to technical packaging and promotional goods In

June 2024, Floreon received an investment of 2.55 million pounds (about 20.82 million yuan) from the UK's technology and sustainable materials accelerator Process Innovation Center (CPI), which will help the company scale up its technology.

Floreon is a small company founded in 2011 as a private company. It became a member of the B-type enterprise (BCorp) in 2021, which proves its commitment to social and environmental responsibility.
