Mondi, a global leader in packaging, is continuing to expand its circular packaging portfolio. Leveraging its Re/loop product line, the company has rolled out high-PCR, recyclable packaging solutions for two key consumer goods sectors: wet wipes and laundry powder. Featuring innovative mono-material designs and high recycled content ratios, these solutions help brands meet upcoming EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) requirements ahead of schedule and drive the green transformation of flexible packaging in the FMCG sector.
For the personal care wet wipes market, Mondi introduced the recyclable Re/loop FlowWrap. Made from a mono-material polypropylene structure containing 35% post-consumer recycled (PCR) content, it precisely meets the EU's mandatory 2030 target for PCR content in packaging. The packaging holds CEFLEX D4ACE recyclability certification, is compatible with existing mechanical recycling systems and mainstream production equipment, and requires no production line modifications. Testing confirms that its sealing integrity and high-speed production stability match those of virgin-material packaging. It serves as a direct replacement for traditional non-recyclable multi-material packaging across categories such as baby, beauty, and household wipes, and was showcased at the INDEX exhibition.

In the laundry powder sector, Mondi co-developed the Re/loop pillow pouch with the German detergent brand Dreco. This innovation raises the PCR content ratio to 50%, significantly exceeding EU compliance standards. The packaging utilizes a fully recyclable polyolefin structure with excellent moisture-barrier properties to keep the powder dry. It also features an easy-tear design, balancing product protection with consumer convenience, and has already been fully launched at major retail outlets across Germany.
Both new products fall under Mondi's MAP2030 sustainability framework; they have been verified by professional circular economy systems and utilize ISCC Plus certification to ensure full traceability of recycled materials. These successful implementations demonstrate that high-PCR mono-material packaging is viable for mass production in demanding consumer goods applications, effectively balancing environmental sustainability, performance, and efficiency to become a mainstream solution for the low-carbon transition of consumer goods packaging.
