Japan's Toray admits that some resin sample data is falsified, including polylactic acid
Recently, Japanese chemical giant Toray Industries admitted that it falsified samples of some resin products to illegally obtain UL (Underwriters Laboratories Inc.) certification, an act that goes back at least 10 years.
The six products involved in data fraud include:
● ABS resin TOYOLAC™
● Nylon resin Amilan™
● Polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) resin TORAYCON™
● Polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) resin TORELINA™
● Liquid crystal polyester resin SIVERAS™
● Polylactic acid resin Ecodia™
Toray sells about 1,600 resin products annually, equivalent to about 570,000 tons of resin. Among them, about 410 products have obtained UL certification, and about 110 products have obtained certification even if they do not meet the standards.
