Chemical giant Arkema launches bio-based acrylic material
Recently, Arkema has launched a new series of bio-acrylic materials. These materials use a mass balance approach to ensure certified levels of non-fossil raw materials, while at the same time helping users to present their sustainable properties.
Arkema said the just-announced bio-attributed acrylic monomers and specialty acrylic additives and resins are certified mass balance under the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification plus framework. Arkema's customers can use these materials to reduce GHG emissions."
The development of these bio-attributed acrylic materials is an important step in the sustainability roadmap for Arkema and its Coating Products division, and these innovative products deliver the high quality and performance customers have come to expect, while at the same time enabling them to reduce their own carbon footprint."
Arkema received new certifications for acrylic monomers and specialty acrylic additives at its plants in Carlin and Genais, France, respectively, and for specialty acrylic resins at its plant in Zwickau, Germany.
