Emirates Biotech Launches PLA Product Line, Supports Small Order Trial Production
On November 24th, Emirates Biotech launched a new polylactic acid (PLA) product line under the brand name Embio. The name incorporates the company name prefix, highlighting brand association and reflecting its UAE-based manufacturing nature.
The company stated that customers in the Middle East will have access to locally sourced PLA materials, which helps shorten delivery times and supports smaller minimum order quantities. Target users include processors, brand owners, and packaging manufacturers using plant-based materials.
Marc Verbruggen, CEO of Emirates Biotech, said, "The launch of the Embio product line is a significant milestone in our efforts to promote the adoption of renewable, compostable plastics in the Middle East."
The Embio portfolio encompasses various grades of PLA materials suitable for rigid and flexible packaging, coated cardboard, fibers, nonwovens, and 3D printing applications.

The UAE biotechnology company points out that its polylactic acid (PLA) material combines transparency, strength, and processability, has a lower carbon footprint than traditional plastics, is recyclable or compostable in industry, and does not form persistent microplastics. The company's technical support team will assist customers in conducting processing trials and application development.
The company emphasizes that this product launch aligns with the UAE's sustainable development goals, including the "Net Zero Emissions Strategy 2050" and related initiatives to develop a circular economy.
