Qatar to Build First Large-Scale Domestic Biodegradable Plastics Manufacturing Center
Papercut recently announced the acquisition of a 60% stake in Enavra, Qatar's leading sustainable packaging manufacturer and a long-term partner of the Qatar Development Bank (QDB). Enavra is a pioneering local company focused on advanced bioplastic materials.
This strategic acquisition marks a significant step forward for Papercut in advancing sustainable packaging solutions, aligning its vision with the pillars of Qatar's National Vision 2030 regarding environmental development, resource efficiency, and building a circular, knowledge-driven economy.
Qatar faces increasingly severe waste and plastic pollution problems. As businesses and communities grow their demand for more responsible materials, bioplastics will play a crucial role in reducing environmental impact and supporting a more sustainable future.
Through this acquisition, Papercut positions itself and Qatar at the forefront of innovation, investing in locally manufactured biodegradable and compostable materials to address real environmental needs. Under the leadership of the Enbat Group, Papercut has grown into a major enabler of sustainable manufacturing. Integrating Enavra into Papercut will accelerate the development of bioplastic alternatives, thereby reducing Qatar's waste; enhance Qatar's local manufacturing capabilities; expand R&D collaborations with universities and innovation centers; support Qatar's transition to a circular and low-waste economy; and help Qatar achieve its ambitious goal of becoming a regional benchmark for sustainable industries.
Ghanim al-Sulaiti, founder of Papercut and Enbat Group, said, "Enavra represents the future of bioplastics in the region, and incorporating it into Papercut will allow us to achieve our future vision faster. With the support of QDB and our continued investment in innovation, we are ready to take Enavra to a new level – expanding production, strengthening research, and providing globally competitive sustainable solutions."
He added, "This acquisition aligns directly with Qatar's National Vision 2030, particularly our mission to reduce waste and build a circular system. Packaging must be part of the solution, not the problem. Through innovation, we can lead this transformation. Our goal is clear: to become a leader in bioplastics manufacturing in the region."
Saoud al-Emadi, CEO and founder of Enavra, said, "Our partnership with Papercut is more than just an acquisition; it's a shared commitment to building a sustainable future for materials in Qatar. Since its inception, Enavra has been dedicated to providing locally developed bioplastics solutions that reduce reliance on traditional plastics and support cleaner, more conscious production and consumption."
He added, "With the support of QDB…" With the support of [unspecified entity] and Qatar's growing innovation ecosystem, we are ready to begin a new chapter. Enavra and Papercut will jointly invest in local manufacturing and develop solutions to make Qatar a leader in sustainable materials innovation in the region.
Papercut and Enavra will jointly develop next-generation compostable and biodegradable materials, build Qatar's first large-scale bioplastics manufacturing center, reduce national waste through responsible packaging solutions, solidify Qatar's position as a regional leader in sustainable development, and advance the environmental pillars of Qatar's National Vision 2030.
