Fully bio-based degradable shoes successfully developed
On August 16, the release ceremony of the world's first batch of fully bio-based degradable shoes was held at Beijing University of Chemical Technology. Zhang Liqun, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and the Wang Dynasty scientific research team, professor of Beijing University of Chemical Technology, presented more than 500 pairs of the first batch of bio-based degradable shoes to the teachers and students of Beihua University, allowing them to enjoy the scientific research results led by the school.
It is reported that the sole of this degradable shoe innovatively uses the bio-based degradable polyester rubber material independently developed by Beijing University of Chemical Technology, and the upper and insole are made of hemp fiber, bamboo fiber material, corn stalk latex material, etc. It remains stable in composting conditions and degrades rapidly under composting conditions.
After 18 years of scientific research, the scientific research team created the bio-based degradable polyester rubber material by using molecular structure design, broke through the continuous production process problem of high molecular weight polyester rubber, completed the continuous pilot test of 1,000 tons, and realized its Application in biodegradable shoes, tires, oil-resistant sealing rings, polylactic acid toughening agent, thermoplastic vulcanizate and other rubber fields
