Solvay launches bio-based nylon (HPPA) for smartphones
On May 19, 2022, Solvay has recently introduced Kalix® 10000, an ideal structural material for the manufacture of precision electronic components for smart devices, further expanding its Kalix® product portfolio. This latest high-performance polyamide (HPPA) material promises to take material performance and sustainability to a whole new level.
Kalix® 10000 is a partially bio-based material that is produced using 100% renewable electricity, in addition to using renewable, non-food-competitive feedstocks. Kalix® 10000 can also be tailored to different customer needs, with versions with a variety of recycled materials and with lower Global Warming Potential (GWP) compared to conventional polyamides. In addition, compared to other Kalix® series products, Kalix® 10000 has higher heat resistance, stain resistance and lower moisture absorption, suitable for more demanding electronic applications.
