Sony to do away with plastic packaging in phones and headphones starting in 2023
According to Nikkei, Sony will start removing plastic packaging for headphones, cameras and mobile phones next year.
According to a Nikkei report, starting next year, Sony-branded products weighing 1kg or less will no longer use plastic packaging, and will cover 40% of Sony's products shipped in 2021. The packaging of products such as smartphones, headphones, cameras, etc. will be eliminated from plastic packaging. It is reported that the Sony Xperia PRO-I mobile phone is the first Xperia mobile phone to achieve zero plastic packaging for a single product.
Sony's already launched headphone product packaging will be changed to paper packaging. At present, the packaging of Sony's MDR-EX15AP in-ear headphones has been redesigned. It is understood that the amount of plastic in the packaging has been reduced from 96% to less than 5%.

Sony also recently launched a new LinkBuds S headset made of recycled water bottle material, named the "Earth Blue" colorway, which has a unique appearance, similar to cream blue, and embellished with light-colored swirls, like Made of marble.
It is understood that Sony will achieve a zero environmental footprint by 2050.
