Two European companies cooperate to develop biodegradable PE stretch film
The German company Manupackaging is a producer of polyethylene stretch film for industrial, agricultural and packaging applications. Recently, they have established a strategic partnership with Polymateria, a UK-based biodegradable technology company, and plan to jointly develop biodegradable plastics.
Manupackaging has developed a LLDPE stretch film called Manunature BD using its proprietary patented "bioconversion process" (a masterbatch technology). The stretch film is said to be biodegradable.

Manunature BD is certified by the British Standards Institution (PAS 9017:2020), says Pierfranco Di Gioia, CEO of M Stretch, the holding company of the manuppackaging group. In an interview with Plasteurope.com, a spokesperson said the new stretch film is intended for use in the cosmetics, food and beverage industries, and not in agriculture.
At the end of last year, Manupackaging commissioned two PE stretch film casting lines at its plant in Schopau. The film manufacturer has four production facilities. In addition to the SIKOBAU plant, it operates three plants in South America in Argentina and Brazil with an annual capacity of more than 150,000 tons.
