On November 26, 2021, the State Administration for Market Regulation (National Standardization Administration) issued two biodegradation related standards: GB/T 41010-2021 "Biodegradable Plastics and Products Degradability and Labeling Requirements" and GB/T 41008 -2021 "Biodegradable Drinking Straws". These two standards will be officially implemented on June 1, 2022.

Which products does this standard apply to?
Applicable to the following types of biodegradable plastics and products:
·Natural polymer materials;
·Synthetic polymers;
· Materials containing additives such as plasticizers, pigments or other compounds;
·A mixture of the above materials;
·Products made from various types of biodegradable materials.

Which straws does this standard apply to?
This standard applies to straws made of biodegradable resins, straws covered with, coated or compounded with biodegradable plastics in contact with food, and drinking straws made of natural polymer materials as main raw materials. It is not applicable to pure paper-made straws.
