World's First Dry Fiber Moulded Paper Cover
22 February 2022 --- PulPac and Scandicore have developed a "world's first" paper cover made with dry moulded fibre technology. An online European art print store will launch Scandicore's plastic-free, fibre-based packaging. PulPac's patented fiber forming technology can be easily adapted to single-use packaging and other items.
Sanna Fager, PulPac's chief commercial officer, told PackagingInsights that the key challenge was to redefine the "plastic language" in tube design, while improving grip and user experience. "The functionality and physical strength of dry-molded fibers could replace products such as lids and a range of other products currently made of plastic. This lid is not a one-time-use product - it can be used, removed and donned multiple times."
"It may not be as durable as plastic, but considering environmental sustainability, that's a good thing. We can't keep producing packaging that's going to last forever and pollute the planet," Fager added. While Scandicore's tubes are awaiting certification, all dry molded fiber products are recyclable and repulpable.
