On September 13, Apple announced at its "Curiosity Up" conference that it would phase out all plastic packaging by the end of 2024 and slowly phase out leather products, and that most of the metal materials used will be recycled.
Apple stated in a press release that it will further promote the decarbonization of the global supply chain. By 2030, more than 300 suppliers will make Apple products using 100% clean energy.
Apple's press release stated that 14 new companies in China, including Jingmen GEM, a supplier responsible for providing key recycling materials for Apple products, have pledged to use clean energy starting in April 2023.
