Foreign coffee producer Tchibo has launched a bio-based capsule for its Qbo brand that is 70% made from second-generation renewable raw materials.
Coffee capsules are becoming more and more popular around the world. However, the downside is that they generate a lot of packaging waste from the virgin PP material, which has an impact on the environment. Tchibo wanted to change the material composition of its Qbo-branded capsules to improve its environmental sustainability. The company explained that its first step was to work with their capsule maker Berry Superfos and Finish ingredient supplier Neste to explore what could be done.
Now, a year later, Tchibo has launched a coffee capsule made from second-generation renewable and recyclable raw materials.
