DSM partners with Axis to develop bio-based nylon camera housings
DSM Engineered Materials has announced that it has supported network video industry specialist Axis Communications, which provides products and services for video surveillance and analytics, access control, intercom and audio systems, to deliver cameras made with EcoPaXX Components, EcoPaXX is a high-performance polyamide made from renewable castor bean oil.
In 2021, Axis Communications launched three products containing renewable bio-based plastics: AXIS P3818-PVE, AXIS Q1656 and AXIS Q1656-LE. AXIS Q1656 is the company's first product range to include the bio-based plastic EcoPaXX.
This polyamide is ideally suited for industries with a strong drive towards sustainability. It combines a low carbon footprint with performance and aesthetics. EcoPaXX is a high performance aliphatic bio-based polyamide with unique advantages such as low moisture absorption and high mechanical properties. It has wide applicability and is especially popular as a PA66 performance booster.
