Japan's No. 1 Coffee Brand Adopts Biodegradable Packaging

Doutor Coffee Co., Ltd. has adopted Mitsubishi Chemical Group's plant-based biodegradable resin "BioPBS™" for the packaging material of its "Hatsugama" (the first order of tea at the beginning of the year in Japanese) online shopping limited edition set .

BioPBS™ is a protective packaging material jointly developed by Mitsubishi Chemical Group and NAKABAYASHI CO.,LTD. This is a biodegradable plastic that is compostable into carbon dioxide and water. In addition, it has good low-temperature heat sealing and flexibility, and has the same level of welding strength as conventional petrochemical plastics.

This coffee packaging using BioPBS™ can prevent the penetration of oxygen, water vapor and aroma, and can lock the flavor of coffee beans. In addition, the bag used for coffee beans generally uses a plastic exhaust valve body. This packaging bag adopts a design that integrates the exhaust structure and the sealing part, which also helps to reduce the amount of plastic used.
