Kunming Airport: Degradable products coverage has reached 100%
On April 22, at the China Civil Aviation Technology, Equipment and Service Exhibition, Kunming Airport was officially awarded the four-star certification of "Dual Carbon Airport" for its outstanding performance in the field of green and low-carbon development, becoming one of the first three airports in the country to receive this honor.
Kunming Airport has always integrated the concept of green and low-carbon development into the entire cycle of planning, construction and operation. Through measures such as optimizing energy structure, promoting the application of clean energy, and upgrading energy-saving equipment, the airport's carbon emission intensity has decreased year by year.
Kunming Airport continues to promote plastic pollution control. The coverage rate of degradable products in terminals, parking buildings, etc. has reached 100%, greatly reducing plastic pollution; built a convenient travel application platform for passengers, installed self-service verification, matched business processes, and realized the full process of facial recognition for outbound passengers, effectively reducing the use of paper; built a self-built reclaimed water treatment plant to achieve 100% reuse of reclaimed water for greening and dust reduction in the field; innovated green economic models, pioneered the use of BOT business model to build and operate solid waste treatment centers, and promoted the resource utilization of solid waste; as the first batch of demonstration airports for the civil aviation "oil to electricity" pilot and "winning the blue sky defense war", it was awarded the advanced unit of the civil aviation to win the blue sky defense war; formulated the "Kunming Changshui International Airport "Waste-free Airport" Creation Work Implementation Plan" and "Waste-free Airport Construction Evaluation Rules", and was recognized as Kunming's "Waste-free Airport" in 2024.
The four-star certification of "Dual Carbon Airport" is the starting point rather than the end point of Kunming Airport's sustainable development path. Kunming Airport will give full play to its leading and exemplary role in green and low-carbon work, continue to increase the research and development and application of energy-saving and emission reduction technologies, and explore more innovative paths. At the same time, Kunming Airport will actively share its green development experience with domestic and foreign counterparts and contribute the "Kunming Plan" to the green development of the civil aviation industry.
