Nordic Label uses Herma to print compostable labels
Nordic Label, one of Finland's leading label printers, has chosen HermaExtracoat and 62N adhesive to print compostable labels for the fast-food restaurant chain Picnic.
Nordic Label has acquired a new customer, Picnic, thanks to the compostable label material provided by Herma. It is one of the most well-known operators of takeaway and fast food restaurants in Finland, operating 38 branches, from Helsinki in the south to Rovaniemi in Lapland in the north, and many others. The company offers a wide variety of food, including baguettes and breads, salads and hot meals.
Picnic has a long-standing commitment to responsible use of packaging materials. For example, in the spring of 2021, it launched a deposit-based return program that replaced disposable lunch boxes. The company's strategy also includes biodegradable packaging of single-use items wherever possible. This is the challenge that Picnic brings to the label printing company, Nordic Label.
The new material combination suggested by Herma has a dual purpose, namely wrapping the bread in paper packaging and selling it at the self-service counter, while sealing the paper packaging.
