On January 16, 2020, the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Ecology and Environment issued the "Opinions on Further Strengthening Plastic Pollution Control", which put forward a clear plan for the plastic restriction process, and proposed that the scope of the plastic restriction order will be further expanded by the end of 2022. At the same time, starting from 2023, some new plastic restriction policies will continue to advance.
1. By the end of 2022, the implementation scope of prohibiting the use of non-degradable plastic bags will be expanded to all built-up areas of cities above the prefecture level and county towns in coastal areas.
2. By the end of 2022, all built-up areas in cities above the prefecture level and county towns in coastal areas will regulate and restrict the use of non-degradable plastic bags in bazaars.
3. By the end of 2022, the use of non-degradable disposable plastic tableware will be prohibited in the built-up area of the county and the catering service of scenic spots.
4. By the end of 2022, star-rated hotels, hotels and other places across the country will no longer actively provide disposable plastic products.
5. By the end of 2022, postal express outlets in Beijing, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Fujian, Guangdong and other provinces and cities will first prohibit the use of non-degradable plastic packaging bags, disposable plastic woven bags, etc., to reduce the use of non-degradable plastic tapes .
According to industry insiders, the scope and strength of the current "plastic restriction order" have been significantly expanded, and degradable plastics are ushering in a period of rapid development. Driven by domestic industrial policies, a large number of traditional plastic products will be replaced by clean, reliable and degradable plastic products. It is estimated that by 2025, the domestic biodegradable plastic market will usher in rapid growth and form a market scale of tens of billions.
