In previous Olympic Games, the shape of the cauldron and the way it is lit has always been the focus of attention.
Held on the evening of February 4 2022 Beijing Olympics opening ceremony, in order to practice the concept of green, environmental protection, do utmost to reduce carbon emissions, the last stick the small flame torch become the flame of the Olympics, was placed on the entry side guide card and the olive branch of central huge snowflakes, return uncut jade to put in opportunely really amazing.
Turning the torch into a "micro flame" would produce about 5,000 times less carbon emissions. Unlike previous Games, which used liquefied natural gas or propane as fuel, Beijing 2022 will be the first to use hydrogen as fuel. The hydrogen fuel used in the torch will come from Sinopec and petrochina.
During the Olympic Games, a large number of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles were used to reduce pollution emissions, reflecting the Olympic spirit and "green", "environmental protection" further combination.
Hydrogen supplied by petrochina lit the torchbearers at the ice Cube, Yanqing and Zhangjiakou venues in Hebei province.
In Zhangjiakou Olympic Games, green hydrogen, independently developed by CNPC, lit the torch platform in Taizi City. According to CNPC, the torch is the only one lit by green hydrogen and the first to use green hydrogen as fuel in the 100-year history of the Winter Olympics.
Hydrogen is considered to be the cleanest and most environmentally friendly fuel. Its combustion products produce only energy and water, making it a completely zero-emission fuel. According to the sources of hydrogen production, hydrogen made from coal is called "grey hydrogen", hydrogen made from natural gas is called "blue hydrogen", and hydrogen made from water electrolysis of renewable energy is called "green hydrogen", which is the most environmentally friendly hydrogen.
