OPPO released a white paper on low-carbon development and launched 100% biodegradable mobile phone packaging this year
At the current MWC World Mobile Communication Conference in Barcelona, OPPO released the White Paper on Low-Carbon Development of OPPO. OPPO promises to take the lead in achieving carbon peak in 2024; In 2050, its own operation will achieve carbon neutrality, and the road map of carbon reduction targets will be given.
As for the goal of carbon neutrality and the road map, OPPO has its own detailed implementation path to promote the realization of the goal of carbon reduction from the medium and long-term dimensions. The specific OPPO will continue to increase its efforts in the five aspects of low carbon production, low carbon products, low carbon investment, intelligent carbon reduction and participation in the formulation of low carbon standards, and has developed a low carbon development path of low carbon production, low carbon products, low carbon investment, low carbon digitalization and low carbon standardization.
OPPO said that in the process of product packaging design, the packaging "3R+1D" (reduction, reuse, recycling, and degradability) was taken as the design principle. Specifically, from 2023, OPPO took the lead in completely removing the plastic packaging of mobile phone color boxes from the European market to achieve 100% natural degradation of mobile phone product packaging. At the same time, 45% recycled fiber materials will be used in color box packaging to reduce the consumption of raw materials.

In addition, OPPO has established a product recycling system to carry out the trade-in business in domestic and foreign markets and promote the recycling and reuse of old mobile phones; In the European Union and other regions, OPPO provides funds to support the operation of local recycling systems, and joins the "green dot" recycling system of waste packaging, and cooperates with professional third-party recycling companies.
For example, in 2022, OPPO's old mobile phone recycling business continued to grow, with the domestic market's mobile phone recycling volume reaching 1.3 million and the weight of recycled products reaching 240 tons. Through the recycling of materials, the utilization rate of resources is improved, thus reducing the pollution and damage to the environment.
