The world's first PLA medical-grade mask authorized by the US FDA
On October 13, PADM Medical's PRECISION ECO™ Plant-Based Earloop Surgical Mask received Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) from the US FDA - the world's first FDA-authorized plant-based surgery for use in medical and healthcare settings Face mask. Billions of petroleum-based synthetic disposable surgical masks are thrown away every year around the world. Governments and consumers are increasingly aware of the environmental threat this plastic pollution poses to the world. Most single-use personal protective equipment (PPE) consists of petroleum-based non-biodegradable polymers that can take up to 450 years to decompose in our landfills, rivers, lakes and other natural environments.
Precision Eco compostable bio-based masks are made using ECOFUSE™ material manufactured by Roswell Textiles using polylactic acid (PLA), which reduces CO2 emissions by approximately 55% compared to traditional petroleum-based masks.
Precision Eco masks are also USDA-certified bio-based products under the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Bio-Priority Program, with a bio-based content of 82%.
