Tory Burch launches bio-based leather collection of handbags
In April, Tory Burch launched the Ella Bio series of handbags, which reinterpreted the brand's iconic and popular handbag styles. The Ella Bio outer layer is crafted from bio-based leather alternative Bio-Tex™ Susy, developed by Tory Burch in collaboration with American biotechnology company Modern Meadow, which has been committed to sustainable material innovation.
Bio-Tex™ Susy is soft and comfortable like leather, durable and not easy to scratch. The material is colorfast and retains its brilliance over time, which is why the first Ella Bio collection features a rich palette of shades: iridescent brights, pastels and sober neutrals. The Ella Bio tote bag is available in China in three sizes: standard, small and mini.
Biotech start-up Modern Meadow, headquartered in New Jersey, is a biotechnology company that continues to use biofabrication techniques to create sustainable materials. The "Ella Bio" bag series in cooperation with Tory Burch this time uses the renewable material "Bio-Tex™", which is a bio-based material certified by the United States Department of Agriculture, which contains 64% bio-based content .It is made in Italy from non-GMO vegetable protein grown in North America. It feels as luxurious as real animal leather, but it is very durable and less prone to scratching; also because of the use of dyes directly bonded to the protein The solution dyeing on the surface can not only fix the color firmly, but also avoid the problem of excessive dye pollution outflow, which is very sustainable and environmentally friendly.
